Memorial Dedication Ceremony - September 4, 2025
Thanks to the hard work and contributions of all that donated and worked on the project, a permanent memorial honoring Dr. Kimberly Nemeth was unveiled on Sept. 4, 2025. The memorial stands on the running trail on the grounds of Southwest General Hospital in Cleveland, OH. This was the last place that Dr. Nemeth worked as a vascular surgeon and that particular trail was a favorite of Kimberly's as she often jogged and exercised there in between surgeries. In honor of her commitment to health and fitness, a plaque and a bronzed pair of Dr. Nemeth's running shoes are displayed on the structure, which sits in a beautiful garden.
During the ceremony, approximately 100 people gathered and shared touching words on Dr.Kimberly's life and works. Many more viewed the event online. Both parents of Kimberly spoke as well as a collection of work colleagues and hospital staff. In an especially touching moment, a single dove was released into the pleasant, late summer breeze by Dr. Nemeth's sisters.
The family and friends of Kimberly would like to specially thank VP Chris Burdon, Dr. Plecha, and the grounds and chaplaincy staff of Southwest General Hospital for the creation of the garden space and their efforts to make the memorial and the service so special. They would also like to thank everyone who made it out in person and who contributed to the memorial's creation. It is their hope that this structure will be viewed by many for years to come and inspire all to continue to cement Dr.Nemeth's legacy in medicine for future generations.
